Wanted- Financial Administrator for Calgary Keys to Recovery Society

Description of Charity/Foundation:
Keys to Recovery is a unique program that breaks away from the traditional way of managing homelessness, mental health and addictions. We break the vicious cycle our clients get stuck in by providing intensive wrap-around support in a safe, affordable and permanent home upon discharge from addictions treatment as opposed to the individuals returning to homelessness. Also, should a client return to substance use while in our program, we do not discharge. We provide support in whatever way they need to get back on track and continue moving forward with their lives. We provide single and double occupancy subsidized housing in regular market rental apartments in all quadrants of the city. Support services offered include: employment readiness, relapse prevention, addictions counseling, goal planning, mental health support, traditional Aboriginal ceremonies and services, financial literacy, client advocacy and support with landlord/tenant matters, and within the health and justice systems, systems navigation, 24/7 crisis support, art groups and peer support. Most of these services are provided in the client’s homes as the client’s are visited regularly. Our client capacity is 85 at any one time. We currently employ 14 dedicated and compassionate individuals in an environment that can be serious at one moment and humorous in the next.

Description of Role:
Keys to Recovery is in need of an individual to assist our Financial Administrator with QuickBooks data entry (accounts payable/receivable) and other bookkeeping duties on a weekly basis. The duties will vary depending on the time of month/year. For example, assisting with the preparation of our annual audit or preparing client invoices for their portion of the rent and utilities at month end. This is a year long volunteer commitment with options for a longer term.
Please consider joining our team as we work towards ending homelessness for our city’s most vulnerable individuals.

Accountant Wanted: Bridges of Love Ministry Society (Calgary)

Description of Charity:
After a large-scale disaster, local governments do not have the capacity to manage the over-whelming needs of an entire community. Bridges of Love Ministry, a registered charity recognized the need for a coordinated grass roots approach when over-whelming disasters make it difficult to maintain a sustained level of care. When first respondents are over-extended, Bridges of Love’s coordination center, a network of local churches, provides an alternate place to call.
