We are a Faith-based Community Organization for an ethnic minority. We are providing spiritual, social and cultural services to the community and beyond. We are planning to redevelop the property on RC2 district in Albert Park/Radisson Community into small place worship. We are recruiting an experienced volunteer financial/accounting advisor with an expertise in project financial management who is willing to advise or educate the Development Committee and the Board so as to make them informed decisions dealing with project manager or construction manager, contractors, and suppliers through one or two two-hour lecture/workshops and ongoing email advice until the project is completed. The project is expected to start in April 2014.

We are currently doing manual bookkeeping. We expect the advisor is willing to assist in setting up a chart of accounts and recommending computerized accounting software with two or three one or two-hour hand-on classes.

We will be providing him/her a breakfast and/or lunch and reimbursing the cost of transportation/gas up to $ 10.

Junior Achievement of Southern Alberta (JASA) is looking for an experienced and innovative professional to provide financial guidance and oversight. We are seeking an accounting professional who wants to be involved with a valued cause and who will help ensure JASA consistently demonstrates best in class financial management and reporting practices. Reporting to the President & CEO, and working closely with the Board Treasurer, the Senior Accountant will provide strategic leadership and will play an integral part in JASA’s development and governance.

The Role
The Senior Accountant reports to the President & CEO and is responsible for the financial management and reporting of JASA. This is a supporting role to the CEO and VP Resource Development and acts as a key member of the Senior Leadership team. General responsibilities include the oversight of the company’s financial management practices to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting; leadership to develop and maintain adequate controls and supervision of the full time Office Administrator/Bookkeeper.

Responsibilities

-Establish and maintain financial management policies and procedures
-Direct short term and long term planning and budget development to support strategic business goals
-Responsibilities for financial operations, budget development and reporting, forecasting; monthly and quarterly statements, annual audit
-Supervise JASA Administrator/Bookkeeper function
-Support Resource Development staff for financial reporting needs to donors
-Ensure accurate and timely disclosure of financial results for stewardship of donors including oversight of tax receipting
-Evaluate and lead process improvements with respect to Tax Receipting, CRA filings, PIPEDA and PCI compliance, as well as the EFFA (Ethical Fundraising and Financial Accounting) accountability and other nonprofit codes of practice
-Ensure appropriate record keeping and compliance with GAAP and ASNPO including the timely preparation of in-house financial statements and supporting documentation for year-end audit
-Oversee Human Resources policies and procedures including staff benefits program and payroll processing
-Evaluate, lead and strengthen Risk Management practices
-Oversee of accounting software selection and use to meet organization needs including alignment and reconciliation to fundraising CRM database (Raisers Edge)
-Provide reports and communication with Junior Achievement of Canada as required
-Lend expertise to the development and acquisition of new business strategies
-Participate on Board Audit Committee and Operational Finance and HR Committees

Breast Cancer Supportive Care Foundation seeks Treasurer

The Breast Cancer Supportive Care Foundation (BCSCF) is a non-profit medical organization providing support to patients with breast cancer and their families. We provide community-based programs to help breast cancer survivors deal with the psychosocial issues and delayed physical side effects arising from having cancer, surgery and treatment. We offer services by a multidisciplinary team of health care professionals specialized in breast cancer care for individuals living with and recovering from breast cancer. Our programs include Individual Patient Care; a Breast Cancer Recovery Group Program and the Healthy Living After or With Breast Cancer program.

We are seeking a volunteer treasurer to provide accounting advice and oversight to our internal bookkeeper.

Responsibilities:
1. review monthly financial package including balance sheet, income statement, general ledger and other supporting reports
2. provide advice to bookkeeper regarding special accounting entries
3. provide financial reports to Board of Directors on a quarterly basis
4. Participate in budgeting process by reviewing draft budgets
5. Participate in annual audit through interaction with external auditors
6. Attend monthly Board meetings, special meeting and Foundation events as requested and as your time allows
7. Be a member of the Finance and Audit subcommittee of the Board

Time commitment:

1. about one hour per month to review financial statements
2. Optional attendance at any of the monthly Board Meetings (10 per year, about 3 hours each in the evening)
3. Required attendance at Board meetings every quarter to provide financial report
4. Recommended attendance at annual Board strategy session (1 full day) plus other special events
