Volunteer Treasurer for Calgary Volunteer Fair Society
Description of Charity/Foundation:
The Calgary Volunteer Fair Society is a small non-profit society created in Spring 2018, and our main mission is to organise and host a trade-show style Fair each year, where people who are looking for volunteer opportunities can meet with organisations looking for volunteers.
Our inaugural Fair was Oct 2, 2018, and we had 62 organisations and over 300 attendees participate (despite it being the snowiest October day in Calgary since the late 1800s). Our second annual Fair was Oct 8, 2019, and it snowed again! Despite the weather, we doubled our attendance numbers, and are excited to keep growing.
We are a small, active board, and operate on a tight budget. We are looking for a few people to fill roles on our Board.
Description of Role:
Treasurer’s main responsibilities would be those that are part of the standard Alberta Society Act suggested bylaws, and, if someone has some experience with grant applications and funding, that would be very welcome as well. We meet about 6 – 10 times a year, more frequently as we get closer to our event.
Applicable Interests:
Volunteerism, Community building
Duration:
1 Year to 2 Years
