Volunteer Board Members for Edmonton Heritage Council
Description of Charity/Foundation:
EHC’s mission is to connect people to the stories of Edmonton through our leadership, support, and programs. We do this by helping Edmontonians research, preserve, interpret, and advocate for our heritage. We administer the Heritage Community Investment Program with the City of Edmonton and provide a range of heritage and community related services to strengthen Edmonton as a community through heritage activity.
Description of Role:
The Edmonton Heritage Council is seeking candidates to join its Board of Directors, beginning in June 2020, to serve for an initial three-year term and up to a maximum of two three-year terms.
Certification or Education Required:
The board welcomes applications from all interested candidates. In particular, we are seeking candidates who offer:
Financial expertise – Certification such as CMA an asset.
Previous board governance experience
Leadership experience, particularly on not for profit boards
Applicable Interests:
EHC is seeking interested individuals who:
• Have a passion for Edmonton and its heritage
• Understand the value of heritage to the present and future life of the city, in relation to Connections & Exchanges: A 10 Year Plan to Transform Arts & Heritage in Edmonton
• Bring a broad perspective on Edmonton’s diverse heritage and/or specific heritage expertise
• Are able to build relationships and advocate for Edmonton’s heritage
• Are engaged, capable and interested in serving on a public policy board
• Can commit to attending 9 board meetings a year, a strategic planning day, and participating in at least one board committee – a time commitment of 10-15 hours per month
