Description of Charity/Foundation:
The Canadian Club of Calgary will celebrated its 110th anniversary in 2017. Along with its affiliates across Canada, the Canadian Club of Calgary is a non-profit organization that provides a space for conversation and reflection about Canada in Calgary. The Club is involved with Canadian Citizenship, Flag Day and Remembrance Day ceremonies in Calgary, and hosts high profile speakers on topics of local and national importance. Description of Role:
We are currently looking for an individual to fill a gap on our Board of Directors Considering a New Board Opportunity? The Canadian Club of Calgary is currently recruiting for a prospective board member who is willing serve as the Treasurer –Board Member.
What is required from you?
As a member of the board you are responsible for the effective governance& operations of the organization. You need to be prepared for each meeting by reading the materials and by participating in the conversations and decisions.Canadian Club of Calgary Board Members are responsible for the financial management strategic direction and vision of the organization. The Treasurer monitors the ongoing financial viability and stability of the Organization and reports to the board on a regular basis.
The treasurer will oversee financial matters in line with good practice and in accordance with the governing documents and legal requirements, and report to the board of directors at regular intervals regarding the financial health of the organization.
Duties:
•Bookkeeping
•General financial oversight
•Funding, fundraising and sales
•Participating in the financial planning and budgeting process
•Financial reporting•to be willing to assist with other committees as required; and
•other appropriate duties at the request of the President.
Certification or Education:
Requirements
•8-10 hours monthly commitment, Commitment to the objects and work of the organization
•Must be member of the Club’s Board of Directors
•Exemplary communication skills
•Strong leadership skills
•Excellent organizational abilities and attention to detail
•Sufficient work and/or volunteer experience in the accounting or finance field is an asset
•Experience in accounting or finance preferred (degree or designation would be an asset but is not required)
•Motivated, self-starter with the ability to work with a high level of autonomy
•Previous Board experience not necessary but preferred
