Volunteer board member for EWPCN

Description of Charity/Foundation:

The Edmonton West Primary Care Network is made up of more than 180 dedicated family doctors and over 100 knowledgeable health professionals who strive to provide the best primary care in the west and southwest regions of Edmonton. Primary Care Networks (PCNs) are not-for- profit organizations supported by an agreement between Alberta Health (AH), Alberta Health Services (AHS) and the Alberta Medical Association (AMA). PCNs are collaborations between local physician groups and AHS Zones to enhance comprehensive primary care services in local geographic areas. Established in 2006, the Edmonton West Primary Care Network (EWPCN) employs an interdisciplinary team of nurses, pharmacists, dietitians, behavioural health consultants, and administrators who support family physicians in their care of patients suffering with chronic and complex disease or specialty related problems. We were pleased to have a CPA member volunteer to serve as a community board member over the past 2 years and found the it to be a mutually valuable experience.

Description of Role:

The EWPCN is seeking applications from individuals interested in volunteering to serve as a community member on our Board of Directors. A community board member shares the responsibilities of governing the PCN, formulating policies and processes, fostering the purpose and vision of the PCN and has a commitment to the financial and social wellbeing of the PCN and to primary care generally.

Certification or Education Required:

To be eligible, you should have senior leadership and governance experience, an understanding of financial matters, strategic planning, advocacy, demonstrated community involvement and experience with board or corporate governance. Preference will also be given to applicants who have demonstrated an understanding of the principles of corporate governance,
have public relations experience and who are residents of the west or south west Edmonton communities
