Volunteer Treasurer for Whitebark Pine Ecosystem Foundation of Canada

Description of Charity/Foundation:
The Whitebark Pine Ecosystem Foundation of Canada has been a registered nonprofit since 2009. Our sister organization, the Whitebark Pine Ecosystem Foundation, based in Missoula, was incorporated 1999. We are super passionate about mountain ecosystems that provide habitat for these endangered trees! WPEFC is in the process of amending our registration from BC to both BC & AB. Our Vision: Whitebark and Limber Pine ecosystems are healthy throughout their Canadian Ranges. Our Mission: The Whitebark Pine Ecosystem Foundation of Canada is devoted to the conservation and stewardship of whitebark and limber pine ecosystems through partnerships, science-based active management, restoration, research and education.
Description of Role:
We would be extremely appreciative for a treasurer that has competencies with not-for-profit administration and reporting. The treasurer will fulfill the regular duties of a board member, typically for a 3-year term but we would appreciate any commitment available. We have monthly calls and email correspondence in between, with our documents on Google Drive. Our prior treasurer worked super hard to organize our finances but has learned on the job, and we just hired a bookkeeper to assist with day to day transactions and project tracking of finances. We would be super thankful for your time and can provide a paid membership for your tenure as treasurer.
Certification or Education Required:
Do you want to conserve, support, and educate people about the environment? Do you have a special attachment to mountains? Do you love trees, especially picturesque ancient ones? Are you fascinated by the interconnections in nature? The seeds of whitebark and limber pine can only be planted and grow into trees if a jay, the Clark’s nutcracker, pecks them from a cone and plants them! These species provide important food and habitat for 100 species of wildlife.
